Located in the heart of Brussels, Gallery think.21
aspires to be a beacon featuring a careful selection of Belgian and
international artists driven by inspiration conveyed through new media.
Taking into account the diversity of new technologies and their specific
impact on the visual arts, one is bound to study the ensuing hybrid
of forms and ideas. Consequently, think.21 views
“new media” in the broadest meaning of the term, with
both the media used as well as the works’ content. Centered
on the digital arts, the programming also explores video, photography,
painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, etc. For think.21,
new images are to be seen in direct relationship with the contemporary
art rather than from an “all digital” point of view. The
leitmotiv is to allow the public, including beginners, amateurs and
collectors, to discover the most stimulating concentration of today’s
creativity.
More specifically, think.21 wishes to support and
encourage young creators while working with established artists. What
makes the project special is that it combines an exhibition space,
a residence and a production studio, offering logistical and financial
support to the artists represented by the Gallery. Specific projects
will be carried out in situ, specially designed for exhibitions in
the Gallery where scenography will occupy a major place.
In addition, think.21 wishes to be a place of reflection
about the presence and the influence of new techniques on artistic
output. It is a special place where artist and the public can meet
and discuss Art. An editorial project flanks the programming and documentation
on topics addressed is available to visitors. Experimentation and
the search for new means of expression are the principles that guide
Gallery’s research. The identity of think.21
is deliberately flux and is developing permanently. |
